The COLOMBIA INDEPENDENCE FESTIVAL AUSTRALIA is a vibrant, community-driven celebration of Colombian culture, honoring Colombian Independence Day in July. This festival aims to pay homage to and showcase the history, evolution, and impact of the Colombian community on Australia's cultural landscape.
In the early 2000s, a wave of young Colombian immigrants arrived in Australia, planting the seeds for a dynamic and hardworking community. These pioneering individuals have significantly contributed to shaping a Latin American identity and spreading Latin American culture throughout Australia.
The festival will feature a rich array of artistic and cultural expressions, with both visiting and local artists showcasing their talents. It will also recognize the accomplishments of community members who serve as role models for the younger generation.
The festival program will include diverse events, such as independent performances focusing on music, history, and culture. There will be talks, music and dance workshops suitable for all ages, an art exhibition featuring works by Colombian artists living in Australia, and two exciting nights of live music, dance, typical food, and DJs featuring top Colombian talent from Australia and special international guests from Colombia. The festival will take place in Brisbane on the 20th of July at 4 Ranwell Ln and Sydney on 20th of July at the Roundhouse.
